You will guide students through a journey that starts with structured, hands-on workshops and gradually shifts toward full student-led exploration, experimentation, and ownership.
You will create a space where trying things out, making mistakes, and discovering unexpected ideas is not only allowed, it’s encouraged. You will:
Facilitate fun, practical maker sessions in electronics, programming, woodworking, laser cutting, CNC routing, 3D modeling, and digital fabrication;
- Support students to develop confidence and autonomy as makers;
- Coach students to take creative risks, follow their curiosity, and prototype bold ideas;
- Co-create curriculum and hands-on resources that help students shape their own learning path;
- Build bridges with industry partners, local communities, and inspiring makers;
- Organize events, showcases, and community activities that celebrate making as a joyful and impactful practice;
- Improve and strengthen the Technology and Makership Learning Line.

This is how you make an impact
You’re a curious, hands-on maker who loves sharing knowledge and inspiring others to learn by doing. You see mistakes as opportunities, and you know how to make technical skills approachable and fun. You believe students learn best when they have room to try, fail, adapt — and succeed on their own terms.
Your Background
- Skilled in electronics, programming, woodworking, laser cutting, CNC routing, 3D printing, and digital fabrication;
- Experience designing or leading maker activities for students or creative professionals;
- Comfortable supporting student autonomy and self-directed learning;
- Eager to connect learning with real-world partners and communities;
- Confident working in English (Dutch is a plus).
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver engaging workshops and open maker labs;
- Support students’ technical and creative development at every stage;
- Encourage an atmosphere of experimentation, play, and reflection;
- Maintain and improve the makerspace, keeping it open, safe, and inspiring;
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary teaching team to evolve our programs.
Employment conditions
If you choose Fontys, you will naturally also choose very nice primary and secondary terms of employment and an appropriate salary. A sample of what we have to offer:
- Salary in scale 9 (min € 3.609,94 – max € 4.909,21)
- 8% holiday allowance and a year-end bonus of 8.3%

- Around 50 days off (including public holidays)
